Since I know you are trying to use the raw1394_iso_* functions, update
your kernel package from
http://rpms.mandrakeclub.com/rpms/mandrake/updates/9.1/RPMS/kernel-2.4.21.0.25mdk-1-1mdk.i586.html
The mandrake kernel 2.4.21 is based upon 2.4.21-pre4 and not the
released version, but this updated package does have an updated
ieee1394.
P.S. The above referenced functions is a new API, which is why you are
experiencing so much pain getting this to work. There is a legacy
raw1394 ISO API that is very stable and established for which an ample
amount of open source examples exist.
