When replacing ieee1394 with the latest Subversion branch into my source
tree, I noticed that the Debian patch "kernel-patch-preempt-2.4" was
modifying drivers/ieee1394/csr.c. So before actually using the
Subversion branch, I removed the preempt patch and tried again. Same
results (endless resets). I then tried the latest Subversion patch
(same results) and then revision 810 (again, same results).
I also have an external HDD case that supports both USB and firewire.
It works fine under USB, but when I plug in the firewire port and turn
it on, the following appears in syslog until I turn it off (and
rescan-scsi-bus.sh doesn't detect anything):
