I have been using a 4 drive enclosure since somewhere from 2.5.69
through 2.6-test8. It has two Oxford 911 chips and all four drives
were detected, as well as an attached DVD-R in a FW enclosure.

I updated to 2.6.0 and got the ieee1394 trunk from the viewcvs on
Jan 7th around 1800 Hours GMT. I replaced the directory in the kernel
tree, built the kernel and only two drives are detected, and no DVD-R.

When I rolled back to test8, everything works again.

What did I miss?
