One of the two problems seems to be a common one with current
IEEE 1394 drivers under kernel 2.6: Sbp2 often fails to reconnect
after a bus reset. That is why sda gets lost when the second disc
is connected.

I neither know what to do about it nor what is causing the second
problem (the SCSI errors with mkfs on sdb).
