Salve!
I've got problems with an external firewire/usb hard drive case (version
details see below). When I just plug in the firewire cable, the drive is
sometimes not recognised. I have to plug in the usb cable as well and then
unplug/plug those two cables, sometimes multiple times. I still haven't found
out in which order exactly, to make it work.
My first guess was, as the case comes with a 6-6 firewire cable and I use a
6-4 cable, that the electronic of the case also needs the power supply
through firewire or usb. But as I can pull the usb plug as soon as the drive
has been recognised through firewire and it still works, this cannot be the
case.
My question now is: how can I find out what's going wrong? I want to know, if
it is a problem with the hd case electronic or with the linux ieee1394
drivers.
Thanks in advance and best regards
Alexej
