What means "not recognised"? You don't show a kernel log so people can
only guess. Most likely you were fooled by the same 2.4-driver
"feature" that I was - the sbp2 driver does not register the harddisk as
SCSI block device. You need to run rescan-scsi-bus.sh from the
scsitools, see FAQ on the web site.

Bad choice. sbp2 was unstable and vfat driver can destroy file contents
on large filesystems (hiding free space).
