Incorrect "Device Removed" messages during boot up

This message may be a bit off topic but it could be important for people
running SBP2 devices under the 2.6 kernel.

I am running Mandrake 10 RC1 (with mandrake's 2.6.2-3 kernel). For those who
don't know me, I have 4 firewire drives on my system in a RAID 5 array.

I have noticed that during boot up, when Linux is checking for new hardware,
I often get messages about one disk or another being removed or added to the
system. I always just "cancel" out of that message and let boot up continue. It
seems that by the time boot up is finished (and my raid arrays are started
and mounted in the rc.local script) all the firewire devices are actually
available.

For instance, right now when I booted up, I got a message saying "sdb" was
removed. But when the boot up finished the raid array which depended on sdb was
actually running. And when I ran Mandrake's Hardware scanning utility (part of
"draktools") I could see that "sdb" was indeed in the list of detected
hardware.

Seems like the hardware detection that's invoked during bootup is finding
missing hardware before that hardware has really had a chance to get initialized
by the system!

BTW, I'm finding something similar during bootup with my Gigabit ethernet
card. It's not listed as "missing" but it's always listed as "failed" during boot
up (even though it's up and running by the time boot up is finished). When I
shut down the ETH card always gets an "OK" too.
