Hi I'm a total linux newbie, but really enthusiast :)
I'm tring to connect my linux box (Red Hat 9) with a Windows XP workstation.
I red previous topic about this argument, but I really need more help. Could
please anyone explain a step by step procedure to succesfull connect linux
and WinXP?

My step until now:

1) I follow the getting started instructions of this page
http://www.linux1394.org/start_install.html for my kernel (linux-2.4.20-8)
2) I run gscanbus: I can see both my pc (linux and winxp)
3) In in /etc/modules.conf, I add line this line: alias eth1 eth1394
4) I use Red Hat network configuration tool to add a new ethernet connection
and as device I choose eth1394 (eth1). I assign IPADDR=192.168.0.1 to winxp
and IPADDR=192.168.0.2 to linux and the same subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
5) I Activate the eth1394 (eth1) interface
6) I try to ping and (of course) I have packet loss
7) I search, read and try to understand previous topic about linux <-> winxp
connection using ip over firewire.
8) I try to apply suggestion of that posts (use config-rom-2.4 or change
ohci1394.c), but with no luck ;)

Sorry for my not perfect english ^_^

Every suggestion will be very appreciated - TIA.
