I bought (finally) a 1394b-IDE bridge with Oxford chip (OXUF922) and I
can confirm that this one supports (at least) 2 logins.
It's hereby no longer just a rumor :-)

Mark Knecht's remark about the firmware is correct: technically the OEM
vendors might change or completely rewrite the firmware and then the
chip itself is no longer responsible for the multiple logins. But in
case of Oxford Semiconductors it seems, that they develop the firmware
and the OEM can 'only' change the physical interface, the flash type and
speed, and some tweaks. It's hard for me to see a reason why they would
disable multiple logins.

Soon I'll have an Initio 2430 and I'll see how many logins this one
supports. If anyone has this
http://www.ioi1394.com/products/proddetail.asp?ProdCategory=FireWire800_to_IDE_Bridge_Board&ProdName=FWB-IDE02
please let me know :-)

And while we are at this, when checking out the specs for this Initio
chip, I wonder what one could do with those if there were a development
system available. ARM7 core, max. 32MB RAM and 32MB flash, serial port,
IDE port, 1394b port...there's no much missing for a full fledged OS
running on it or some advanced storage things like RAID0/1/5...
