As mentioned before, I believe that all IEEE 1394b PCI cards and
onboard adapters that are avaliable today are bilingual without
exception. A beta-mode-only 1394b card could IMO not compete with
bilingual cards in foreseeable time. Even beta-mode-only
peripherals (e.g. harddisks) will probably not appear soon, not
as long as there is a pronounced price differentiation to USB
peripherals.
