Didn't help me on my 2.6.8 system when I tried it. I even tried
lowering the max_speed parameter as well.

Tried that, but from what I remember this wasn't any newer than what's
in the 2.6.8 kernel tree.

I think the Prolific chipset stinks myself. Not sure about other
chipsets. That's the chipset in my enclosure. More details as I find
time to gather them...
