Running gscanbus on my Dell with no fw devices
gscan bus reports on the host controler fine.
If the Apple iSight is connected it gets 2-5
instances of
raw1394_io errno: 11 sd.errcode -1102
but still ends up showing the host controler
and the Apple iSight fine. (and it works on
this system).
On my VIA mini-itx board with builtin fw (from
VIA), gscanbus reports on the host controller alone
fine, just a fw hard drive also reports fine. But
if the iSight is conneted I get two rounds of
20 lines of
raw1394_io errno: 11 sd.errcode -1102
followed by
Error while reading from IEEE1394: : Resource temporarily unavailable
0/0x0000fffff0000400: read failed
0/0x0000fffff0000400: wrong bus info block length
and gscanbus sees something there, but it has a ?
over it. So it looks like the iSight gives both
systems a bit of a hard time, requring retries but
that on the Dell this works, while on the VIA it
fails. It feels like (but I don't know this) that
there is a wait in the retry and that the wait is
shorter (or 0) on the VIA (a 1Ghz P3 equiv) Vs the
Dell (a 2.8G P4).
Both systems are running a 2.6.8.1 kernel with all
1394 modules built-in.
Any thoughts?
