Help I don't know how.

Via make xconfig I can turn off CONFIG_SMP "Symmetric multi-processing
support" ... is that what you mean?

Or would the quicker work of booting Knoppix on some other motherboard
that actually has only a uni-processor be just as helpful?

"Help I don't know how". I run 2.6 from kernel.org near make
defconfig. Should I diff that config with your config?
