OK, these two are pretty old (I think) but they might be about right for
a 2,4,27 kernel.

I think that's quite interesting and probably a clue.

Is there a reason why serialize_io=1 is a problem for you? Can you not
add that parameter to your modules.conf file and then it would boot and
work correctly? Or have I missed that you did that already and it didn't
work?

I do think that Ben Collins might be interested in these results if we
don't come to a real solution ourselves.

I think that you didn't answer my question about this drive. Is it
something very new. Many of the messages look that way. Possibly the
drive has firmware problems, or possibly updates?
