I just have to add something:
This workaround worked well for me up to kernel 2.6.8.1. I switched to
2.6.9 only recently and experienced the following problem yesterday:
When burning DVDs on my ieee1394 writer with growisofs, the attempt to
reload the tray after burning fails. The drive opens, but doesn't close
again. In 2.6.8.1, it opens and closes as it should.
At the same time, I get 5-10 of these messages in my kernel log:
ieee1394: sbp2: Bus reset in progress - rejecting command
I'm still using 2.6.9 with this workaround and haven't experienced any data
corruption on my sbp2 hard disk so far, but nevertheless you should be
aware that this workaround obviously is a bit shakey.
