They should be created by udev. The sysfs support udev needs to create
1394 device nodes is missing until recent additions in our code
repository. Until it is in a kernel release and then your distro, you
need to modify your local rc script. See the various pages on
linux1394.org for instructions on all device nodes for all modules. At
the very least:
mknod -m 666 /dev/raw1394 c 171 0
