Hello,
I've got a Firewire box with four regular IDE 120 gig disks in it.
For the past two days I've been trying to set-up software RAID on this
machine, with various kernels to no success.
I know the disks are all good, they were in another RAID recently.
I know the box full 'o' disks is good, it works in Windows.
So, I've tried:
2.6.1 (couldn't login to the device iirc)
2.6.10 + a trunk.tar.bz2 somebody linked from this list a couple of
days ago, got as far as the RAID layer marking each drive as failed
while it was being constructed, then the RAID layer in the kernel
oops'ing after a number of sbp2 errors in dmesg
2.6.11-rc5 + the latest svn from a day or two ago (can't log in to the
second two drives when I enable serialio/the login hack)
I'd post more errors, but the md errors filled my logs to the brim.
If needed, I can go back to the last best "working" kernel, (2.6.10),
and grab the actual errors before they can get
The errors I got were generally of the resetting variety, though
pretty much the ones everyone else has been complaining about. Is this
expected to be fixed any time soon, or should I abandon my firewire
RAID solution and move back to my old RAID card?
