Humm I didn't specifically look for a /dev/sbp2 device
but I didn't notice one either...

Sorry for the (long) delay there. Gscanbus shows a
disc icon, no questionmark. If I unplug the device
and plug it back in, sometimes gscanbus showed a
questionmark, others it showed a disc.
There wasn't anything related to the firewire bus in
those other log files, I probably forgot to turn on
some part of logging at some stage in setting up this
box (oops)
