Did that and now it works perfectly. I'd say that this a bug in kino,
since the firewire port should be autodetected imho (as it is in
dvgrab).

Also not nice in terms of usuability -- why do I need to restart to get
the changes in the preferences applied? Why aren't I told about the
restart in the preferences GUI?
Also, the help which pops up when I put my mouse on "raw1394 interface:"
says:
"This timing constant is used to determine how often to insert empty
packets (the lower the value, the fewer the empty packets)"
Is this a copy&paste mistake?
Dan, should I file bugreports for these or is having that it here
